This ultra-light unit provides protection against giardia, cryptosporidium and other organisms of equal size or larger such as ameba, tapeworm eggs, etc. In areas where beaver or muskrat are prevalent, giardia is probably the most common hazard in drinking water. Outbreaks of giardiasis have occurred throughout the United States and it is a potential problem for most outdoor people. The Timberline Filter is the most versatile and rugged system for providing giardia-free fresh water to outdoor people in pristine areas. Features: Filters particles and micro-organisms down to a nominal 1 micron level Virtually unbreakable Lightweight (6 oz.) Does not affect water taste Has been thoroughly tested for giardia removal Can be used with a straw or pump Instructions for Use: With a Pump: 1. Press fit 2′ tubing into the tapered hole in the top of the pump. 2. Press fit pump onto top of filter. 3. Push down on the plunger forcing water through the tubing and into the container. Continue the above action until the desired amount of water has be filtered. Pumping rate should not exceed 1 quart in 1.5 minutes (a comfortable rate). 5. Vertical operation of the pump is preferred so that the ball check valves operate properly. With a Straw: Remove 1 1/2″ tube from filter. 2. Attached furnished 6″ tube to outlet on the topside of the filter. 3. Immerse the filter in a container of stream water and drink through the tube the same way you would a straw. The Timberline Filter has a capacity of up to 50 gallons with a flowrate of 1 quart per minute (depending on the clarity of the water filtered). Eventually the filter will plug off to the point where the pressure drop will be excessive (inconvenient–slow filtration). Replacement filters are available to provide continued use of your system. |
